We will leave early Saturday morning from Red Star Studios and travel to Omaha. The first stop is a tour of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, where a new exhibition will be up featuring their Annual Art Auction. Exhibiting a variety of media from artists all over the country, it's sure to be great experience.
We'll have a break for lunch in the Old Market section of town where a few restaurant choices and galleries abound.
Next, we'll visit Jess Benjamin's studio that is a short drive away. A ceramic sculptor who draws inspiration from a connection with the land and Nebraska of her youth.
After that we'll stop into ceramic artist Jun Kaneko's Studio. Boasting a full career in the arts, involving a plethora of techniques and media, Jun Kaneko's studio is sure to be an eye-opening encounter with an artist who creates world-renowned ceramic sculpture, set designs for the stage, and contemplative two-dimensional works. There is also a chance that we will visit the new KANEKO Center for Creativity.
And that's just Saturday!
Sunday we will tour the The Hot Shops Art Center, a working hot glass studio housing 80 studio artists. Participants will be able to create a glass paperweight at Crystal Forge, where Ed Fennel will give a glass working demo and workshop.
After we've had our fill, we will travel back to Kansas City.
