Keyhole Vessel - Jose Sierra

This vessel was wheel-thrown using porcelain. It has to keyhole shapes on both sides and was decorated with hand-drawn patterns. The vessel was fired in a cone 10 process and measures 4.25" x 4.25" x 5".

José Sierra works and lives in Tucson, AZ. Sierra was born in Mérida, Venezuela. His sculptural vessels are a hybrid of pre-Colombian art and contemporary design. The colors of the Andes and Catalina Mountains, his native landscape, inspire the palette of glazes and engobes on his thrown and alerted forms. Sierra’s exhibition, South x Midwest, opened at Red Star Studios in December 2009.
