"Blue Scalloped Bowl"- Shawn Spangler

This deep bowl was wheel-thrown using porcelain. The rim has been altered to create an undulating floral opening. Lines around the perimeter of the interior and exterior of the bowl were created using the mishma technique and are stained red. It was painted with a variegated blue-green-yellow glaze. The bowl measures 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 4 1/2".

Shawn Spangler received a BFA from Penn State and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He continued studies of Chinese ceramics at San Bao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China. He is a Resident Artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA.
