Ewer - Shawn Spangler

This ewer was wheel-thrown and altered using porcelain. The majority of the body was glazed with a translucent green celadon glaze, while the “beak” and bottleneck opening are left bare. The body is decorated with vertical lines created using the “mishma” drawing process. The ewer was fired in a cone 7 oxidation process and measures 6” x 5” x 8.5”.

Shawn Spangler received a BFA from Penn State and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He continued studies of Chinese ceramics at San Bao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China. He is a Resident Artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA.
