Sugar & Creamer Stacking Set - Shawn Spangler

This stacking set was wheel-thrown and altered using porcelain. The creamer has a green glaze body and yellow glaze spout and handle. It's decorated with a “mishma” pattern, indented markings, and slip-trailed dots. The creamer settles in on top of the lid of the sugar container. The sugar container's interior is coated with a green glaze. The exterior is decorated with a “mishma” low relief pattern of lines and was painted with yellow and green translucent glazes. The sugar container sets into the the saucer. The saucer was painted with green and yellow glazes and has applied loops around its rim. The set was fired in a cone 7 oxidation process and measures 7” x 7” x 10.5”.

Shawn Spangler received a BFA from Penn State and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. He continued studies of Chinese ceramics at San Bao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China. He is a Resident Artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA.
