This bottle was wheel-thrown using earthenware. The variations in its surface were created through a cone 10 wood-firing process. It measures 3" x 2.5" x 5.5".

Bede Clarke has been a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri - Columbia since 1992. Noted for his wood fire work, Clarke exaggerates the traditional scale of functional ceramics by embarking on sculpture and tile relief. He received his BFA from Eckerd College (FL) and an MFA from the University of Iowa. His work can be found at the at Martin Museum of Art, Baylor University (TX), Red Lodge Clay Center (MT), and AKAR (IA.) In addition to being part of various collections throughout the U.S., his work can also be found abroad; Taipei County Yingke Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, Ichon World Ceramic Center in South Korea, and the Bermuda National Gallery in Bermuda.
