Jo Kamm received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2007. While studying there, he visited and studied at the summer studio program to Hungary. Since then, Kamm has repeatedly returned to Europe, looking particularly at the relationship of ceramic art, industry, and education. Using the industrial media of porcelain and plaster, Kamm's work navigates territory between design and sculpture in ceramic art to explore how material and process alter perceptions of value and meaning. In 2010, Kamm completed his MFA at The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, and returned to Europe again, supported by the NCECA Graduate Fellowship.
