Tumblers - Rachel Akin

These tumblers were wheel-thrown using porcelain. Their exteriors were painted with a pale green and translucent blue glaze , and their interiors with a green glaze. These tumblers were fired in a cone 10 oxidation process and measure 3.5" x 3.25" x 3.25".

Rachel Akin received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1999 and her MFA from Ohio University in 2006. She was a resident artist at Red Star Studios from 2006-2007. She currently teaches classes at Forest Park Community College and Craft Alliance in St. Louis, MO. She is also in the process of completing a one year ceramics residency at Craft Alliance in Grand Center. Recently, she exhibited at the Laumeier Art Fair in St. Louis where she received an Outstanding Local Artist Award.
